Hollow-Out Mirror-Polished Whale Stainless Steel Sculpture

This whale sculpture combines the lifelike, leaping form found in the collection's other marine pieces with an additional layer of forged hollow perforations distributed across the body, a more technically demanding construction approach that requires the steel skin to be precisely cut and reinforced internally so the perforated whale form retains its structural strength despite the considerable material removed for the hollow pattern. The remaining solid steel surfaces receive a full 8K mirror polish, and the combination of bright reflective steel with dark perforated openings produces a strongly layered visual effect, with light passing directly through the open sections while bouncing and scattering across the polished surfaces in between.

This layered light effect gives the whale an unusually lively, almost luminous quality even in daylight, since the contrast between solid reflective steel and open void areas creates a much busier, more textured visual surface than a fully solid mirror-polished form would offer. The leaping pose continues to evoke forward momentum and a bright, expansive future, themes reinforced by the sense of lightness the perforations lend to what is otherwise a substantial steel structure.
